Three main objectives of the course are: - illustrate moments and problems of Italian language history through reading and commenting on texts; - develop skills of linguistic and stylistic analysis (when faced with literary and non-literary texts); - Arouse critical and philological sensitivity.
At the end of the course, students will know crucial issues and junctures in the evolution of Italian and will be able to analyze language and style of the proposed texts, historicizing them.
Course Prerequisites
"Storia della lingua italiana B" is meant to be attended after "Storia della lingua italiana A".
Teaching Methods
Lectures, with historical and theoretical overviews of the subject and tests on the texts (with linguistic and stylistic analysis of selected extracts).
Assessment Methods
ORAL EXAMINATION
Point and open-ended questions designed to ascertain not only knowledge of the subject matter, but also ability to organize discourse and properties of language. More specifically, then, textual analysis skills and the ability to place texts and authors in a historical-linguistic framework will also be assessed.
