MLO.1 Knowledge & Understanding: You will be able to demonstrate critical knowledge of the legal, ethical, and organizational frameworks governing the Italian National Health Service (SSN) and the medical profession. MLO.2. Ability to Apply Knowledge and Understanding: You will be able to analyze the legal obligations and professional duties of medical practitioners within the public healthcare framework. MLO.3: Autonomy of Judgement: You will be able to form ethical judgments about contested public health interventions MLO.4. Communication Skills: You will be able to communicate medico legal arguments clearly and respectfully. MLO.5. Learning Skills: You will be able to demonstrate critical knowledge of specific bioethical laws, including voluntary termination of pregnancy, organ transplantation, and clinical trials.
Metodi didattici
Teaching methods include lectures, discussion and guided independent study. Lectures present key concepts (supports MLO.1, MLO.2), interactive discussion of real clinical and forensic cases (supports MLO.2-3), guided readings and the e-learning platform (supports MLO.5). Teaching will include guidance to help you prepare for the exam (supports MLO.4) and throughout you will be presented with references to further readings and other materials to support your development (supports MLO.5).

This course provides a detailed overview of the legal, ethical, and organizational frameworks governing the Italian National Health Service (SSN) and the medical profession. Beginning with Constitutional foundations, students will explore the duties and responsibilities of healthcare professionals, legal and ethical frameworks around patient autonomy, social security systems, special health legislation, and mortuary police regulations concerning death determination.
