At the successful conclusion of this module, you should be able to demonstrate the following module level learning outcomes (MLOs): MLO.1 Knowledge & Understanding You will be able to explain methods for analyzing pathological tissue slides. MLO.2 Application You will be able to apply cell biology, anatomy, and histology knowledge to microscope analysis of pathological tissues. MLO.3 Autonomy of Judgement You will be able to interpret histopathological features and identify key pathological elements. MLO.4 Communication Skills You will be able to work collaboratively with peers in lab settings. MLO.5 Learning Skills You will be able to reflect on lab learning and prepare for related exam questions.
Prerequisiti
The prerequisites are indicated in the Integrated Course Syllabus for BOD and include a knowledge of the animal eukaryotic cell biology, the main human anatomical districts and physiological functions, the histology of tissues.
Metodi didattici
This laboratory module by provides you with the opportunity to carry out practical exercises (MLO2., ML.O. 3) in the laboratory alone and in small groups, working with peers (MLO.4., MLO-5). This model includes the following teaching methods: explanatory lectures and presentations (MLO.1), group-work and instructor guided lab exercises.

Contenuti
This module aims to provide you with practical experience of laboratory-based work and will introduce you to the analysis of tissue slides of pathological tissues. Throughout the module you will have an optical microscope available for viewing slides. The focus of the module is on guided laboratory work and the analysis of tissue slides of pathological tissues, and you will gain direct experience of slide analysis across the following topics: Intracellular and extracellular degeneration: hyalinosis, steatosis, necrosis, heart attack; Neoplastic transformation: benign tumors, malignant tumors, metastases; Inflammatory and reparative response: acute inflammation, chronic nonspecific and granulomatous inflammation: Vascular pathologies.
