Syllabus
Course Objectives
The linguistic finality of this Spanish course is to develop written and oral linguistic competences and skills (level A1/A2, according to the Common Parameters Of European Linguistic References). Furthermore the course is going to provide Spanish socio-economic and cultural knowledge. The course will be divided in the three following sections: Grammar, Communication and some aspects of Economy and Marketing. The teaching will be realized by frontal lessons, grammar exercises, the reading and comprehension of texts and articles of socio-economic items in order to strengthen the learning.

Teaching Methods
Teaching will take place through lectures, grammar exercises, oral interaction/production, reading and comprehension of socio-economic and cultural texts, listening to interviews, documentaries, etc., listening comprehension, reformulation in Spanish (oral and written expression). Explanations will be provided in Word, PowerPoint presentations, articles, videos, commercials... which will be uploaded onto Kiro's platform.
Assessment Methods
Written and oral examination. For the written test, grammatical content, communicative functions and vocabulary relating to the course topics must be studied. The use of a dictionary is not permitted.
The acquisition of knowledge and skills will be tested by means of two tests, one written and one oral. The written test will last approximately two hours and will focus on the grammatical content explained in class during the Supplementary Didactics hours. It will be structured as follows: approx. 8-10 completion exercises on the grammatical contents of the course; 1 written production (of approx. 160/180 words). The oral interview will assess the acquisition of linguistic knowledge and communicative skills (A1+/A2 CEFR level), also from the compulsory readings. As far as the assessment criteria are concerned, the written test will be passed if at least 60% of the grammatical exercises are answered correctly, and if the correct use of verbal modes and tenses, prepositions, markers and nexuses, verbal periphrases... (according to the indicated level) is demonstrated in the language composition. In the oral test, the student must be able to communicate information and personal judgements on everyday, family, cultural and socio-economic topics (also related to readings), using grammatically correct forms.The student must be able to interact with the lecturer, expressing his/her point of view on the proposed topics. The final grade will result from the average of the two parts, written and oral. To pass the examination, the student must achieve a minimum mark of 18/30 in both parts (written and oral).

The written and oral examinations are combined. The oral examination can be taken after the written test has been passed.
Students who are unable to attend the lectures must prepare themselves using the textbook indicated for the exercises (ELExprés), the lecturer's notes or one of the recommended grammar texts.
