The course is aimed at providing students with the basic tools needed to understand and interact in everyday situations. All the abilities will be developed at the same time. The main focus will be on the different aspects of Landeskunde, giving students more complex texts to read.
Course Prerequisites
no prerequisites are required
Teaching Methods
The main course will be complemented by exercises (Integrative teaching for the German language) given by linguistic experts appointed by the Language Centre. Their main goal is to develop grammar (main morphological and syntactic structures) and lexical skills (beginner’s level up to specific vocabulary in economics).
Assessment Methods
The exam is divided into a written test (multiple choice text which checks comprehension and grammar / vocabulary skills) and an oral exam. The written exam is valid for 12 months (= 6 sessions); within this period the German Language oral exam should be taken. The oral exam, which can only be taken after passing the written one, consists of an interview dealing with the topics covered in class. If you have a German Certificate or Test-DaF (level B1 - issued by the Goethe Institute) it allows you to not take the written test. The students who do not attend classes must discuss adding further material to the programme with the professor.
