Introduction to the knowledge of the history and the main topics of the Byzantine civilization
Course Prerequisites
Good knowledge of Italian language. Basic knowledges related to the history of the classical, late-ancient and medieval western civilization
Teaching Methods
Lectures. Grrek (and Latin) literary and documentary sources will be read and commented (in Italian translation) during the lessons; specific topics will be treated in depth according to time available.
Assessment Methods
Oral examinations. Students will be asked to discuss at least one of the main topics related to Byzantine history and civilization and one of the sources read and commented during the lessons

The sources will be read in Italian translation. Students who can't attend the lessons are requested to contact the teacher in order to arrange an alternate program.
