The aim of this course is to introduce the students to the principles of "ecdotica", substantiated with the analysis and interpretation of selected romance texts.
Course Prerequisites
The course requires a basic knowledge of Romance philology and linguistics (It is for students Who have passed 'Romance philology' - Triennial Degree). Otherwise, please contact the teacher.
Teaching Methods
Lectures and (possibly) seminars on special topics, with the students actively involved. The theoretical coverage of all topics will always supplemented by substantial practical applications.
Assessment Methods
The oral examination aims to verify the knowledge of topics, texts and bibliography presented and discussed during the lectures. Non-attending students are expected to get in touch with the teacher as soon as possible.

Contents
The anglonorman Vie de saint Alexis (11th century): Manuscripts, Critical editions, Analysis of the Language, Commentary. The course aims at the acquisition of a knowledge in the fields of textual criticism, as far as medieval Romance manuscript tradition is concerned. The course also intends to organise, on the basis of the Vie de saint Alexis, a critical laboratory on some ecdotic issues posed by medieval Romance Texts. Non-attending students are expected to get in touch with the teacher as soon as possible.
