Romantic figures par excellence, celebrated in literature and Hollywood cinema, who were pirates really? This course aims to analyze the impact of piracy on contemporary societies, extending beyond Atlantic piracy to include Asian countries (China and Japan) and the confrontation between privateers in the Mediterranean. This study aims to better understand the evolution of this global phenomenon.
