Syllabus
Course Objectives
The course will introduce the field of study of Critical Discourse Analysis, illustrating its central notions and exploring some of its analytical methodologies. The necessary tools for independently conducting a critical analysis of a text will be provided.
Course Prerequisites
Basic notions of linguistics are required. It is highly recommended to have already taken an exam in general linguistics.
Teaching Methods
The course will consist of lectures, opportunities for discussion and practical exercises. Materials presented in class will be made available to students via the KIRO moodle platform.
Assessment Methods
The exam consists of an oral test and includes two parts: 1. Critical analysis of a text, previously agreed upon with the lecturer, using one of the methodologies introduced during the course. 2. Questions on the course content. The final assessment is based on the degree of understanding and elaboration of the presented topics and on the ability to independently apply the knowledge acquired during the course.
