The Course aims to guide students towards an appropriate use of English at a professional, interersonal and international level. Morover, the course will focus on the deveopment cinematography.Students are expected to learn how to perform, in English, a number of activities (speakingskills at least at B2 level):
Course Prerequisites
Students should possess an excellent knowledge of their mother tongue and an intermediate competence in English, in all four skills. Their CEFR level should be B2. Students are expected to be able to handle the main structures of the language with some confidence, to know an adequate range of specific vocabulary and to use appropriate communicative strategies.
Teaching Methods
a) General English, Academic English, English for Specific Purposes (Prof. N.Magliai): Classwork or on-line classes (in streaming) will be based on: Listening/watching/reading activities, in order to widen the students' vocabulary and competence in a wide range of subjects. The same files/clips are intended to propel discussion and dialogues among the students (speaking activity). Dialogues, in English, where students are invited to speak about the proposed subjects, their opinions and their future professions. -) General English, Grammar (Prof. M. Elphinstone): (C.E.L.): The Collaborator and Language Expert (CEL) helps students develop language proficiency through a series of exercises aimed at building grammar skills and improving their use of English. The grammatical areas covered include modal verbs, tenses, clauses, inversion, verb patterns (infinitive or 'ing' form), phrasal verbs and the passive/causative voice. The exercises involve sentence transformation, cloze tests, word class identification and the correction of common grammatical errors.
Assessment Methods
WRITTEN exam (Grammar Test): for non-attending students, and for those who attended less than 75% of the course (lessons given by both the CEL and the professor); it consists of grammar exercises, translations and drills. It is not possible to sit the written exam and the oral exam on the same

General English, Academic English, English for Specific Purposes (Prof. N.Magliai): Students are invited to study, translate and analyse, both in class and on their own, documents, files, multi-media resources that can be easily found and downloaded from selected websites. Links to the suggested files will be provided by a shared and constantly updated "Syllabus" - a PDF document. Each file will be uploaded and shared via Kiro/Moodle system or a specific GoogleDrive folder.
