The course examines primarily the German literature of modern and contemporary age. Attention will be given also to other literary periods. Particular reference will be given to the principal fields of Literaturwissenschaft, such as literary periods, genres, concepts and definitions. Textual analysis and translation of some representative works from German to Italian are important scores as well. German words and sentences will be frequently used. At course end students should be able to answer questions about all course items.
Course Prerequisites
Ability in summarizing and exposing themes or contents with reference to literature and critical issues.

Lectures based on powerpoint slides, written texts, videos and seminars.
Assessment Methods
The examination will be held in Italian or eventually in German at the student's request and will assess the students' knowledge of the course.

Contents
The analysis of some representative works of the twentieth century will provide the necessary knowledge in order to better understand the literary discourses of all considered ages, currents and movements.
